So, for all those who’ve been playing around with the idea of getting married in Alaska, please do! I can tell you all about it, but why not just show you with Chuck and Kay’s epic adventure elopement! Ready to sneak a peek at this one-of-a-kind glacier wedding? Let’s do it!
There’s so many opportunities to make eloping in Alaska your playground and that’s exactly what these two lovebirds did! At their core, you could tell that Chuck and Kay were an adventure type of couple.
Before their big day, it was so refreshing to hear all about their proposal. Chuck told us about how he surprised Kay with an epic waterfall decent in the tropics – how fitting!
Hearing about a proposal like that meant that their wedding had to be on the same level. So naturally, a glacier elopement was the perfect place for these two to start their forever love.
Fast forward to the highly anticipated ceremony – it was magical. Many thanks to the Seward Helicopter tours team for bringing us up to our designated mountain top!
I swear, it felt like we were on top of the world. I Dos on top of a glacier is something you see in movies but to experience it with this beautiful couple was truly something incredibly special.
This relaxed and go-with-the-flow couple were initially shy in front of the camera, but warmed up so quickly! Wanna know the secret? Sled dogs and puppies! We ended up working alongside some really playful and energetic sled dogs and pups and that’s all it took for Kay and Chuck to let loose and have some fun. The Iditarod team really brought the excitement – the dog sled rides were a BLAST. As if a glacier wedding wasn’t already amazing on its own, it ended up turning into an unforgettable dog sledding elopement! Nothing but the best when you’re getting married in Alaska!
After some snowballs were thrown (Chuck’s fault, not mine!) knots were tied, and me yelling “gorgeous!!” a million times, we got to soak in some waterfall and iceberg views from above. The views were spectacular. Eloping in Alaska is such a winter wonderland, you can never get enough! Kay and Chuck were eager about commemorating their special day and the breathtaking views that went along with it. So they asked me to take photos of the scenery to send over with their gallery so they could cherish their experience forever. And, of course, I happily obliged!
Kay and Chuck’s Alaska elopement turned helicopter elopement turned dog sledding elopement turned glacier wedding was definitely one for the books. What an adventure! It’s couples like them that make my craft as an Alaska wedding photographer so, so fulfilling. They were down for adventure, knew what they wanted, and had the best time letting it all fall into place and I’m so happy to have captured it all.
If you’ve been playing around with the idea of eloping in Alaska, you probably have a thing for non-traditional escapades. And Alaska is just the place to go!
